These are the sweetest little faces....all 3 of our grandchildren. All 3 have little "boo boos" on their faces, from scrapes and falls along the way. But there is nothing more beautiful than these little faces!
That's right, another year has flown by. Brian turned 31 on August 7th and Blake turned 29 on August 27th. We are so proud of the men they have become!
Bob and I spent a recent weekend near Albuquerque at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort....still celebrating 35 years of marriage. Being fairly adventurous, we decided to mark the occasion by doing something we'd never done before. We had a great time high over Albuquerque....in something other than a SWA plane!
There were several other balloons that launched along with us. We took off and skimmed over the trees that line the Rio Grande River), then touched down on a sand bar in the middle of the river. After we took off again, we snapped pictures of other balloons doing the same thing.
It was a great day aloft, and after touchdown, we "toasted" with orange juice, then headed for the hotel. What a blast!
Barnum & Bailey's Circus was in Dallas, and Luke made his first trip to the circus last night with Honey & Pop in tow. We waited in the heat for the doors to open, then our first stop was at the souvenir table. Luke looked everything over, but decided on an "elephant flashlight." Next up, food! Pop bought corn dogs, nachos and a drink, and off we went to our seats.....on the very FRONT row! Add in some cotton candy, and we were all set for the show. During the grand entrance of all the performers, some of the Asian performers rode in a giant Dragon....which spewed smoke from his mouth. Luke promptly hopped from his seat (between us) to Pop's lap, his face clouded up and he said, "I want my DADDY!" We assured him that even though the dragon LOOKED scary, he was really a very friendly dragon. Throughout the show, Luke asked where that dragon was! He was on guard for at least a half hour, but I guess he finally believed us when we said we thought the dragon had gone to bed. On the way home, I asked him what his favorite part of the circus was, and to our surprise, he said, "the DRAGON!!" I asked him if the dragon scared him, but he said, "NO!" as if that was the craziest question he'd ever been asked. Here are a couple of videos of Luke at the circus.....he couldn't have been any closer to the action!
Thirty one years ago today (August 7th) I gave birth to that handsome guy on the right! Our first born.....a son! We were so excited, and Brian you have brought us more joy than you could possibly know. You are a terrific son, a wonderful husband, and a fantastic father (and that little guy in your arms looks just like you did at that age). Happy, happy birthday! Now if you're 31, that means I'm .......NEVERMIND!
Sunday, August 5th was our 35th Anniversary. Bob and I got married in San Antonio, TX, in 1972, and have traveled the world together.....well, OUR world! Our two sons, Brian and Blake, were in Sacramento, CA, where Bob was stationed in the Air Force. We've lived in the Dallas area since 1979, so to us, Big D is "home." In 2001, Erin joined our family when she and Blake married, and in 2003, Tiffany became part of the Clark clan when she married Brian. We added Luke in 2004 (Blake & Erin's son), Jackson in 2005 (Brian & Tiffany's son) and Lana in 2006 (Blake & Erin's daughter). In December of 07, we'll add a little sister for Luke and Lana!
Well, those are the stats, but what you don't see in "stats" is the love we share. Thank you Lord, for a wonderful family, for the past 35 years, for the "present" we enjoy, and for the future we look toward with great anticipation!
I've been a blogging grandparent for a couple of years, and it's been a lot of fun looking back through the changes in our grandkids. Luke is our nearly-3-year-old grandson, Jackson is almost 2, and Lana just turned 1. Luke and Lana are brother and sister, and they have a new baby sister who will arrive in December. Jackson doesn't have any brothers or sisters....yet! I've just switched to the new Grandparents site, and look forward to building community with other grandparents! Enjoy my blog!
