Paul McCartney cuts U.S. vacation short to fly home and meet newest grandchild
For legendary Beatle Paul McCartney, nothing takes precedence over the birth of another grandchild.
Not even a month-long adventure with his new love, Nancy Shevell.
McCartney and Shevell were vacationing in the States traveling the famous Route 66 from Chicago, Ill., to Santa Monica, Calif., in an old Ford Bronco.
But Sir Paul cut the trip short last week and the couple flew back to England — so McCartney could meet his sixth grandchild, a boy, who was born to his daughter Mary.
A source told the British newspaper the Daily Mirror that "Paul is over the moon and couldn't wait to jump on a plane. It's a very personal thing meeting a new grandchild for the first time, but he loves Nancy so much that he wanted her to be there. He is only expected to be here a few days to catch up with the family before he flies back to the U.S. with Nancy."
Mary, McCartney's daughter with his former wife, Linda, now has three children. McCartney's daughter Stella, the fashion designer, also has three children.
McCartney was retracing the old Route 66, getting his kicks for his 66th birthday.
