Liking Being a Grandparent--Uh, Not So Much Reply to post Add post to favorites

Forum Post Am I the only new grandparent out here that hasn't gotten the hang of it yet? I'm not crazy about how they are raising my grandson--not much discipline--feed him high fiber bars instead of dinner--gave up on potty training--he sleeps in their bed, etc. So when I babysit, I get to deal with all of this and I just don't like it. They do not want my advice and giving it is the best way to get into trouble. How can I get to a place where I actually enjoy him? Oh, and diaper changing. Eee Gads. Last time, he pooped 4 times; I almost fainted! He's 3 and a half. Maybe I'm just very selfish.

I don't think you are selfish, some people enjoy that they have raised their kids and are through with the potty training, the feedings etc. nothing wrong with that you earned that right.
No one wants to take care of a child that is still in diapers at almost 4, specially when he is eating a lot of high fiber bars. That doesn't sound very healthy. It makes it hard when he is your grandson and you cannot enjoy him to the fullest.
I am going to keep my mouth shut about my opinions about everything else you said lol.
I hope things change for you
Take care
